Mr. Samy Kebaish
Senior Research Associate
Samy Kebaish is a Senior Research Associate at TIV, where he specializes in artificial intelligence, biotechnology, data science, and emerging technologies. Since 2020, he has supported Department of Energy SBIR/STTR applicants through Technical and Business Assistance (TABA), working on topics from nuclear energy reactors to photovoltaic innovation. He has also contributed to international development research, including a project with the Inter-American Development Bank in Belize, where he interviewed over 60 teachers to assess digital and climate-related skills for workforce readiness.
Samy began his career in biomedical and computational research at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Virginia, where he published early contributions in neuroscience, enzymatic kinetics, orthopedics, and stem cell biology. He later gained experience in digital health by integrating Google Glass technology into medical workflows at Augmedix, as well as in software engineering and education through roles that involved teaching JavaScript frameworks and mentoring students in STEM fields. His global perspective includes leading coding workshops for youth in Egypt and collaborating on AI applications for coastal resilience in Puerto Rico.
Samy holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Biochemistry and Cognitive Science from the University of Virginia, a master’s in Biotechnology with a concentration in Bioinformatics from Johns Hopkins University, and a master’s in Data Science from the University of Virginia. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Engineering in AI & Machine Learning at George Washington University. Mr. Kebaish is also a data science and AI researcher for the University of Virginia, in the Student Health & Wellness Department. Fluent in English, French, and Spanish, and conversational in Arabic, he brings both technical expertise and cross-cultural experience to TIV’s mission of advancing innovation and economic development.
