Dr. Miriam Stankovich

Dr. Miriam Stankovic is a recognized authority on intellectual property, technology transfer, and the regulation of emerging technologies. With over 20 years of experience, she has advised leading international organizations, including the World Bank Group, the International Telecommunication Union, the World Intellectual Property Organization, the OECD, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the European Commission, on complex issues at the intersection of law, innovation, and disruptive technologies.
Her expertise spans intellectual property strategy, data protection, regulatory impact analysis, and Industry 4.0 domains, including artificial intelligence, blockchain, big data, fintech, and additive manufacturing. She has extensive experience guiding patent strategy, licensing, and prosecution, and has coordinated large-scale international projects on copyright and patent reform, sustainability, and digital transformation.
Dr. Stankovic is widely recognized as both a thought leader and practitioner. She is a frequent keynote speaker at international conferences on innovation, intellectual property, and the governance of disruptive technologies, and her research has shaped policy debates across multiple regions. Her publications include books, peer-reviewed articles, and government reports. She has co-authored landmark studies, including the Inter-American Development Bank’s analysis of ICTs for climate change adaptation and mitigation, as well as APEC’s paper on women in intellectual property.
She holds a Ph.D. in Development Economics, an LL.M. in International Intellectual Property Law (Chicago Kent College of Law, summa cum laude), and an LL.M. in International Business Law (Central European University). A Fulbright Scholar in IP and Technology Law at Duke University School of Law and a World Bank McNamara Scholar in Development Economics and Tech Transfer, she combines academic rigor with practical policy expertise.
