TIV Presents at the 17th UPenn APALSA Conference "A Brave New World: Transforming the Lawyer, the Firm, the Industry"
At the 17th annual University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) Asian Pacific American Law Students Association (APALSA) conference , TIV’s Vice President of Emerging Technologies and Intellectual Property, Dr. Mirjana Stankovic, was invited as a distinguished speaker. The conference theme – “A Brave New World: Transforming the Lawyer, the Firm” – was centered on the emergent role of artificial intelligence and “big data” on the laws, regulation, ethics and the legal industry. The conference explored three salient areas in commerce and technology:
New trends in corporate transactions and litigation
The increasing vulnerability of firms and corporations in the realm of cybersecurity and data privacy
Current and future developments involving the application of artificial intelligence.
The conference involved participation from some of the world’s leading academic institutions, Law Firms, and Companies. The representative speakers from these organization addressed how the many advancements in technology and commerce will impact future jobs, potential employers, and the industry in which lawyers hope to build their careers.
