Alongside the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), TIV organized a multi-day “Shark Tank” type pitching contest in the Port of Spain as capstone event for the REACH project.
TIV created, implemented and organized a Regional Public Goods (RPG) initiative of the IADB called Regional Entrepreneurial Asset Commercialization HUB (REACH). The REACH facility was established to cultivate entrepreneurship and innovation in the Caribbean. During the course of the project, TIV coordinated numerous workshops, including one under the auspices of Prime Minister Mitchell of Grenada, the Organization of American States (OAS) and the US National Academies of Sciences (NAS). However, the largest and most significant activity of the REACH project was the “Design, Development and Implementation of a Pipeline of Innovation and Sustainable Technologies Ventures in the Caribbean.”. Under this activity TIV scouted for, mentored, and helped accelerate several promising firms in the region. The project culminated with a pitch-style “Shark Tank” type competition, multiple firms were financed, selected and mentored by eminent investors and TIV. Multiple industry leaders participated in the event, including prominent investment bankers, government advisors, and a former star of the United Kingdom’s Dragon’s Den. The REACH facility has since served as a breeding ground for entrepreneurial success in the region.
